Double Up: Deep Dive on Two handed backhand

About this event

Double Up: Six-Week Two-Handed Backhand Clinic

This clinic is for players who want a backhand with more power, stability and confidence. Over six weeks you’ll build a two-handed backhand from the grip up, then use it in every part of the game, from baseline groundstrokes to fast exchanges at the kitchen line. Every session mixes drills, coaching feedback and live play, so the new shot holds up in real games.

What you’ll work on:

Week 1, grip, setup and groundstrokes: hand position, ready position and the unit turn, then deep, consistent groundstrokes and returns from the baseline.

Week 2, drops and drives: using the two-hander to drive hard or play a controlled third-shot drop, and choosing which one fits the ball.

Week 3, resets and transition: absorbing pace with soft two-handed resets and moving through the transition zone to the kitchen line.

Week 4, dinking and speed-ups: steady two-handed dinks and how to spot and attack the right ball.

Week 5, two-handed counters: a compact block and counter for winning hand battles at the net.

Week 6, game play: modified Double Up live-ball games that put every shot from the clinic to work.

Who it’s for: players rated 3.0 and above who want a stronger backhand, whether you’re new to the two-hander or already use it and want to clean it up. Each week builds on the last, so try to make all six sessions.
