Now more than ever, it’s essential that athletes worldwide take the steps necessary to keep themselves healthy and in tip-top shape for competition. Staying healthy means more than exercising every day and has more to do with sports nutrition than you think.

If you’ve been looking for some sure-fire nutrition tips, then you’re in the right place. Here are some tips that will help you stay in shape and help reach optimal performance when it’s time to suit up.

1. Have a Balanced Diet

We’ve all heard from our coaches and parents what should be included in our diets as athletes. However, just because you’ve heard, it doesn’t mean that you’ve done what you’ve been told to do.

Having a balanced diet is essential to maintaining the health of your body throughout the tennis competition season. You’ve got to not only include tons of fruits and vegetables in your diet, but you’ve also got to ensure that you include lean proteins and more.

Remember, when it comes to your diet, you’ve got to take the time to replace everything that you lost during times of training and competition. If you don’t replace the energy that you’ve lost from exertion and sweat, it can leave your body with no fuel to run on.

And when your body has nothing to run on, it can be dangerous.

2. Drink Water

About 60% of the body is made of water. And when you’re exercising or competing on the court, you begin to sweat. This means that your body is ridding itself of the water that it was once holding in.

When you lose a lot of water, you’ve got to replenish it. It’s been recommended that the average person drink around eight glasses of water per day.

And rightfully so. Drinking water helps your muscles and joints to remain lubricated and provides you with energy to continue performing.

3. Eat at the Right Time

When you’re grabbing all your goodies from the sports nutrition store, you must pick the right time to consume your foods. You’ll want to ensure that you don’t wait until you’re hungry to eat, and eat when it’s necessary.

The reason being for this is because different athletes have varying schedules. So you should eat your food in a way that’s beneficial to your competition and training schedule. And in general, eating at specific times like dinner before 7 pm aids in the digestion process.

Sports Nutrition: Fueling the Body to Keep Going

When we talk about sports nutrition, the tips above are crucial to ensuring that you make it through competitions and stay healthy. You want to make sure that you drink water as much as possible. And you’re going to want to pay special attention to the foods that you’re consuming.

Since athletes are taking care to watch what they’re putting into their bodies, it’s only right that as the court director, you take special care of the places where they’ll be practicing. Here at Court Reserve, we can help you manage all your courts.
