How are tennis and pickleball clubs surviving to stay open in 2020?
Who would have thought back in March we would still be dealing with this virus. So many of our beautiful tennis clubs, pickleball organizations and even swim and gym centers have been closed down. Many of our partners have weathered this storm and are now looking to stay strong and profitable in 2021.
Here are some of the best ideas we have heard from our current partners about staying afloat during Covid 2020.
Follow the rules and guidelines by your local ordinances but there are safe activities you could encourage through outside activity and through social distancing:
- Some clubs are holding ball machine days where members can sign up for a 30-minute time slot to come out and hit on the tennis or pickleball machine. Lots of great exercise with an instructor on hand to encourage stroke correction and do not forget what a great cardio workout too!
- All about the serve. Tennis players stand and rotate within the 4 serve boxes and work specifically on their serve while keeping a safe distance and perfecting a skill that we often do not take enough time to work on!
- Singles LIVE BALL. Talk about a cardio workout. We have seen Live ball often in a doubles format but especially for Junior players who love to run anyways this idea is a popular option!
- Lots of our clubs are asking families to play with the same families when considering doubles and singles.

Do not forget to keep playing and moving because exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle! You can read more about this in an article from the Cleveland Clinic titled: 9 Ways to Prevent Disease (and To Live Your Healthiest Life) Smart choices will take you far.
See ya on the courts!
