Pickleball clubs are opening up everyday! Pickleball is currently the hottest sport in the US. In fact according to The Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) 2022 Sports, Fitness, and Leisure Activities Topline Participation Report there are 4.8 million participants nationwide, and a growth of 39.3% over the last two years.Â
It’s a great time to open up a Pickleball club. Here are some tips and tricks from our friends over at the Pavilion of Pickleball in Knoxville Tennessee. We sat down with Dr. Lee Martin and discussed what it took to open up a 4 court indoor pickleball facility and go from 0 to 700+ members in 18 months!
The POP is more than just a bunch of courts, it is a place for people to gather together and play events and tournaments with one another. The facility is what drives new players to the POP!Â
They have 4 indoor Sportmaster Cushioned Courts that have 5 layers of rubber and 2 layers of color. This is helpful after hours of play on the bones! They have a common area with sliding glass doors so other members can watch indoor pickleball play. This community area is special because it makes you feel like you are a part of the court.
They have LSI Indirect LED lighting and you can see the balls with no shadow problems which means there are no glare spots! The POP uses keyless entry with a one door entrance which means they are a 24 hour pickleball facility! This allows members to check in at any time during the day or night and play pickleball.Â
